Peter Lillford, University of Birmingham UK
"Food structures, Thermodynamics versus Kinetics"

Dominique Champion, Dijon France
"Distribution and properties of water in spores: The key to their resistance"

Petra Foerst, Freising Germany
"Interactions between processing and formulation during drying of lactic acid bacteria"

Stefan T. Jaronski, USDA ARS, Sidney, MT USA
"Formulating Mycoinsecticides: Science, Art and Alchemy"

A symposium for the community of researchers and industrials dealing with various aspects of microbial formulation and stabilisation of living microorganisms in areas such as

The major goal of the symposium is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, to establish fruitful exchange of ideas and contacts between academia and industry from a multitude of domains, young and seniors, beginners and experienced. Moreover, the symposium addresses the potential of microbial formulation, its materials and technology.

Differently formulated and freeze-dried preparations of the same Lactobacillus strain, emphasising the importance of understanding formulation- and processvariables for successful freeze-drying.

The DOM research programme - Domestication of microorganisms - aims to decrease the use of chemicals in the environment, by generating new knowledge about how we can make good use of special properties of naturally occuring microorganisms.
